  • 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg (beaten)
  • 1 Onion (finely diced)
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Beef broth (low sodium)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 Onion (sliced)
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper. Shape into 6–8 oval patties and set aside.
  2. In an oven-safe skillet over medium heat, brown the patties for about 3–4 minutes per side until golden.
  3. Add sliced onions and butter to the skillet; sauté until onions are soft.
  4. Stir in flour and cook for two minutes until golden. Gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream until smooth.
  5. Nestle the browned patties into the gravy and cover with foil. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes; then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  6. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
