  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/3 cup whole milk (room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream (room temperature)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup Oreo cookie crumbs
  • 1 ounce cream cheese (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare dough by mixing water and flour in a saucepan over medium heat until it forms a paste.
  2. In a mixer bowl, combine bread flour, sugar, yeast, Oreo crumbs, and salt.
  3. Add cream, milk, egg, vanilla extract, and the prepared tangzhong; knead until combined.
  4. Gradually add butter while kneading until dough is smooth and elastic.
  5. Let the dough rise for about 30 minutes until doubled in size.
  6. Mix filling ingredients together and roll out the dough into a rectangle.
  7. Spread filling on the dough and roll tightly; cut into strips.
  8. Place rolls in a baking pan and let rise again for about an hour.
  9. Preheat oven to 325°F (162°C) and bake for 25-35 minutes until golden brown.
  10. While cooling, mix frosting ingredients; spread over warm rolls.
