  • 1 lb ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 4 leaves of lettuce
  • 1 small red onion, sliced
  • 4 burger buns

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground turkey with chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined and form into four patties.
  2. Chill the patties in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to help them hold their shape when cooking.
  3. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each patty for 5-7 minutes on each side until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
  4. While cooking, prepare the southwest sauce by mixing mayonnaise, lime juice, cilantro, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl.
  5. Toast the burger buns on the grill or skillet until golden brown.
  6. Assemble the burgers by spreading southwest sauce on the bottom bun and layering on the cooked turkey patty followed by avocado slices, tomato slices, lettuce leaves, and onion slices.
