  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 box white cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sour cream (8 oz container)
  • 1 cup butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 8 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened (for frosting)
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced for garnish
  • 20 Golden Oreos
  • 3.4 oz box strawberry Jello powder
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, whisk together vegetable oil, egg whites, water, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until combined.
  2. Gradually mix in the cake mix and all-purpose flour until smooth.
  3. Gently fold in the sour cream for added moisture.
  4. Pour the batter into cupcake liners in a muffin tin, filling them two-thirds full. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. While cooling, prepare the frosting by beating softened butter and cream cheese until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and adjust consistency with heavy cream.
  6. Once cooled, frost each cupcake generously and sprinkle with crushed Golden Oreos mixed with strawberry Jello powder.
  7. Garnish with fresh strawberries before serving.
